Long Nails – What a Chore!

Friday night! Time to go out and meet people! Right? Right. So what does one do on this night of all nights of the week? One would want to look good, look cool, look awesome. A small, but crucial detail arises – WHAT should I do with my nails?!

If you’re like me, you really like the idea of long nails, but maintaining it is a bit more of a problem. My nails go all over the place – sometimes they’re long and pretty, but even then they’re not filed well and half the time I have two weeks-old polish on them. Like now. Now would definitely be one of those times. Some little red patches adorn these untended, unhealthy nails of mine, and it looks frankly quite horrendous.

Well, that’s easily fixable. Pull out the nail polish remover and scrub scrub scrub away. Amazing how persistent this icky old nail polish is… Ah! There, it’s all off now, though there are still red stains on my cuticles. Oh well, I’m putting black nail polish on anyway. And my pinky-nails will be green. Because I’m weird. Applying nail polish now, steady and easy… Left hand done! Now to the right. This is harder, my left hand is a bit shaky, but ah, there, relatively OK looking.

Now, I just need to be careful not to put my nails near anything… Ho-hum. Oh dang, how did THAT happen?! Urgh, now I have to do that nail all over again! Out comes the nail polish remover again…

Does this happen to you? Half the time I get so frustrated at my ruined nail polish that I just scrub all of it off and say to hell with it.

I know exactly what you mean. I can grow my nails fairly long, but as soon as they get to the stage where i think they look nice, i go and do something heavy and break one. I have given up on colored polish as it always goes wrong, i get them looking good, think they are dry, and then go and do something stupid like fiddling with my hair and ruin one of the nails. I thought of getting these press on nails that are already painted but that didn’t go to well either. Some are too small or the wrong shape and then when i have them on and they look realish, i find that i cant do simple tasks like zipping up my trousers because the nails seem to get in the way.

Now i settle with clear shiny polish that doesn’t show up too much if it chips a little. lol

  2. I don’t really use nail polish on my finger nails much anymore. If they ever do get long enough I generally use that clear stuff with glitter. Just a couple of coats but I CAN’T STAND when there are little patches of color on just a few of them. I think it looks…..um…icky. I feel it looks so un-groomed and it’s just a pet peeve of mine. So I’d rather not use any than to put it on and do the dishes and have half of it off already.

I do however always put it on my toe nails. I have those UGLY deformed toe nails that are very thick and I have to file them down to get them thinner and then like to hide them. I usually wear purple or blue with glitter on that. How come it stays on the toes longer than the fingers???? Is it because they aren’t exposed to the elements like your hands are?

I don’t find you weird in any way.
